Turin meeting declaration

Railway Silk Road Cities Forum is already actively involved in building a new structure of the high-speed railway passenger service that will cover many cities as stations of the Eurasian metro. On October 19, 2016, the Forum held a meeting in Turin, devoted to an important matter of freight railway service between territories. The meeting was aimed to discuss ways of enhancing trade between the Forum member cities using new "caravans" – container trains, addressed to tackle the problem of environmental pollution.

The purpose of the project is to foster intercity freight trade by rail, which is possible thanks to availability of relevant infrastructure and mechanisms that ensure integration of large urban centers. The improved freight trade will also be beneficial for the population and business community of the region.

The main goal is to find proper solutions, considering that functional characteristics of large territories sometimes feature significant functional differences.
