Creation of the Silk Road 2.0 will be discussed on Forum in Turin


On November 27, 2015 the Railway Silk Road Cities Forum will take place in Turin. The Forum is aimed at forming of a fundamentally new ideology of transport integration in the METR region (Middle East, Europe, Turkey, Russia) through the creation of common railway space, including the project of the New Railway Silk Road. The organizing platform of the Forum is MIR Initiative supported by the City Hall of Turin.

On May 2015 Mayor of Turin Piero Fassino together with ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Igor Ivanov as well as with the mayors and representatives of Vienna, Istanbul, Berlin, Sofia and Zagreb announced the idea of Forum of the Cities of the New Railway Silk Road, which will connect the whole continent including Europe, Russia and China.

The concept of the Forum contemplates the association of the cities situated on the route of the New Railway Silk Road both to develop dialogue and integration in the region, and to promote projects aimed at enhancing mobility. In particular, two projects of Northern route of this new Silk Road from China to Europe are being actively studied: High-speed Corridor Moscow-Minsk-Warsaw-Berlin and Eurasian High-speed Transport Corridor Moscow-Astana-Beijing.

Test drive "Future Metro of the METR Region. Projects, Forming a New Silk Road" will be a practical activity of the Forum. Within the framework of this event projects to build high-speed railways, forming a New Silk Road will be presented. Financiers, engineers, analysts and consultants of major international corporations will evaluate presented ideas and vote for pilot projects which would become a basis for the realization of the New Silk Road.

A roadmap of the project "Metro of the METR Region" will be presented on the Forum. The roadmap will contain description of a sequence of milestones and specific actions to be taken towards the creation of the New Silk Road.

At the final part of the event mayors and financial organizations that support the idea of creating of a metro of the METR region will sign the "Turin Charter".

Mayors of the largest cities of Eurasian region, politicians, businessmen, heads of investment, consulting and scientific organizations as well as media representatives will take part in the Forum.
