European metropolitan cities in support of the Forum
The second meeting of metropolitan cities was held in Turin. A number of the major European metropolitan cities participated in the event. The President of the Railway Silk Road Cities Forum Mr.Piero Fassino, its Coordinator Mr.Ernest Sultanov and the Head of its Italian branch Mr.Eugenio Novario introduced the aims and objectives of the organization. In his introduction to the meeting the President of the Forum, mayor of Turin Mr.Piero Fassino stressed his attention on the role of metropolitan cities as real locomotives of economical growth and on need of cooperation between them. In his turn MIR Initiative Coordinator Mr.Ernest Sultanov reiterated the importance of the common strategy to overcome the current crises by means of increasing mobility and infrastructural integration of European and Eurasian cities.
During the event the Turin charter (constituent document of the Forum which was approved on November 27, 2015) was signed by a few more capitals, including the Oslo metropolitan area (Akershus) mayor Ms.Annette Solli and the mayor of Tirana Mr.Erion Veliaj. The cities of Bilbao, Palermo, Thessaloniki have also joined the Forum.
