Andreas Seiler


Andreas Seiler is a senior researcher at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Department of Ecology, Grimso Wildlife Research Station. He gained his masters degree at the University of Gottingen in Germany and received his PhD in 2003 in wildlife ecology at the SLU. Andreas’ professional interests cover the relationship and interference between humans and wildlife. His field of expertise is animal and landscape ecology with a special focus on conflicts between transportation, infrastructure and wildlife. His work addresses applied questions and is done in close dialogue with practitioners and stakeholders. These projects range from infrastructure investment projects over monitoring studies of mitigation measures, to research projects on animal behavior and wildlife-vehicle collisions. Andreas was member of the Infra Eco Network Europe (www.IENE.info) in 1996 and helped to reestablish the network and install a new secretary in 2008. Since then, he has been an elected member of the IENE steering committee and with a special responsibility for IENE international conferences. Among other activities, Andreas presently cooperates in the CEDR-research program SAFEROAD on Roads and Wildlife.
